NBC is reportedly looking to boot Ann Curry from her Today show co-hosting gig alongside Matt Lauer. If the network has its way Curry’s departure will happen before the start of the Summer Olympics in late July, insiders tell The New York Times. NBC is said to already be in talks with Curry about moving to a different position. Curry has reportedly hired attorney Robert B. Barnett.
“She got her dream job, and she doesn’t want to let it go,” an insider tells the Times.
Recent low ratings and Curry’s apparent lack of chemistry with Lauer is rumored to be at the heart of NBC’s problem. Neither the network nor Curry, 55, has commented.
Before taking over for Meredith Vieira as co-host of Today in June 2011, Curry worked as the show’s news anchor for 14 years.
