Insight on Manufacturing, a business to business publication released quarterly, aims to “connect companies with skilled workers and educational resources in the New North.” This quarter’s issue featured an article on what it takes to succeed in an export market, and FEECO International was center-stage.
Against the backdrop of a rotary drum agglomerator, FEECO’s Vice President and General Manager, Lee Hoffmann, summed up export success when he told the publication, “having unique and well-built products that are not readily available around the world are really some of the keys to success.” Hoffmann added that export success also comes from added opportunities to enhance the customer’s success through working with them on things like financial arrangements, and services like field installations. “We’re definitely a solutions provider, not just an equipment maker,” said Hoffmann. About 45% of FEECO’s sales over the past five years have been exports.
The article, which also explores successes of a few other Wisconsin businesses, contains comments from Lora Klenke, vice president of international business development for the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. On Wisconsin companies, Klenke said, “The question shouldn’t be whether or not you should export, but what region holds your next best opportunity.” Klenke added that countries like China and India are projected for huge growth, which will ultimately result in major export potential.
