Taking in another $37.9 million this holiday weekend was enough for the dancing penguins in “Happy Feet” to win best in show for the second consecutive week. The Warner Bros. animated flick has collected a 10-day total of $100.1 million at the box-office.
Daniel Craig, or Bond, James Bond, had to settle for the bridesmaid role for the second consecutive week with $31 million over the weekend. While the 10-day total for “Casino Royale” has brought in $94.2 million at the domestic box-office, the international appeal of 007 has netted $224 million worldwide.
The new Denzel Washington film “Déjà vu” opened strong with $20.8 million in ticket sales. The Walt Disney Co.’s science-fiction film portrays Washington as an FBI agent whose mission is to prevent a bombing by using technology that allows him to see into the past.
The public didn’t seem too eager to jump into the Christmas season just yet as “Deck the Halls” debuted in the number four spot with $12 million. Ticket sales should pick up over the next few weeks for the film that stars Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick.
Coming in fifth at the box-office and showing that he may not understand the culture but he definitely has a grasp on capitalism, was “Borat”. Pulling in another $10.4 million has pushed the Sacha Baron Cohen flick up to $109.3 million.
“The Santa Clause 3” fell two spots to number six bringing in $10 million for Disney.
