Six Arrested in Terrorist Plot to Attack U.S. Military Base in Kuwait

Kuwaiti officials have said they have arrested six people believed to be tied to a terrorist plot to attack a U.S. military base in the country.

According to officials the six men, all Kuwaitis, belonged to a terrorist network linked to al-Qaeda and after their arrest they confessed to the crimes. They also revealed they had been planning on attacking “important facilities” within the country prior to their arrest.

Following the arrest the interior ministry issued a statement concerning the situation that noted, “The state security has uncovered a terrorist network following al-Qaeda, and includes six citizens who have planned to carry out a plan to bomb Arifjan Camp (the main U.S. base in Kuwait), the state security building and other important facilities.”
