A reckless driver caused a three-car pile-up on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn Early Tuesday morning which resulted in injury to 11 people.
The careless driver, Henry Brimsley, 30 was traveling in the eastbound lane when he spotted a patrol car. And without regard to the safety of other drivers, Brimsley made a U-turn in middle of the parkway and began driving against the flow of traffic.
He then crashed into a van, carrying 7 passengers, which went careening into another passenger vehicle with two people inside.
A total of 11 people, including Brimsley, were injured. At least six people had serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The remaining injuries were minor. Brimsley broke his leg.
Police believe Brimsley made his radical move to avoid a speeding ticket. He is facing a variety of charges which includes reckless endangerment and driving with a suspended license.
The legal headaches of driving with a suspended license and speeding are nothing compared to the lawsuits this driver faces once the victims hire an accident attorney.
In some instances, accident victims walk away without serious injury. However there are many other auto accidents that result in either death or serious injury. The families of the deceased will have to endure a great deal of grief. Survivors face mounting medical bills while trying to recover from their injuries. Accident lawyers make certain those who are suffering because of another person’s careless driving get the money they need.
A personal injury settlement which can be maximized by the representation of an accident attorney is sometimes the only sense if justice these accident victims can obtain.
