Los Angeles Lakers Center Pau Gasol Out for Three Weeks After Breaking Index Finger

Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol will be out for three weeks following surgery to repair a broken left index finger he suffered during practice on Monday.

Gasol had been practicing with the Spanish national team ahead of the European Championship when he broke the finger while attempting to block a shot. Gasol immediately underwent surgery on the finger and is expected to wear a splint for 20 days after which his condition will be reevaluated.

The European Championship is scheduled to begin Sept. 7 in Poland and Gasol’s spot on Spain’s team remains questionable.
