Katie Holmes is wasting no time finalizing her split from Tom Cruise. A day before announcing their divorce, Holmes was spotted moving out of the New York City apartment she shared with Cruise. The actress and daughter Suri, 6, moved into a 3-bedroom apartment Holmes rented before filing for divorce. People magazine reports the home costs Holmes, 33, between $10,000 to 12,000 a month.
Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise on Thursday, June 28 in NYC. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and requested sole legal custody and “primary residential custody” of Suri.
Insiders say Cruise’s love of Scientology is ultimately what drove Holmes to file for divorce. The former Dawson’s Creek star allegedly fears Cruise will force Suri to become part of Sea Org, a Scientology organization which former members have described as a boot camp.
Cruise has not yet filed his own divorce papers. He is currently in Iceland filming “Oblivion.”
