Michigan Hopes Talking Urinals Will Keep Drunks off the Roads

Officials in the state of Michigan are taking some unusual steps to keep drunk drivers off the roads. So if you are a guy in Michigan and the urinal begins speaking to you don’t freak, it’s just the deodorizer cake.

Michigan has begun to distribute the talking urinal cakes to Licensed Beverage Association members just ahead of the Fourth of July holiday. The deodorizer cakes contain a recorder with a woman’s voice encouraging patrons to call a cab or a friend if they are too drunk to drive.

“Not only do we want to turn some heads and get people talking, we hope people will take the message to heart,” says Michael L. Prince, director of the Michigan Office of Highway Safety and Planning.

The talking urinal cakes are part of a statewide crackdown on drunk driving over the Independence Day Holiday.

The Fourth of July is one of the many holidays which are marked by barbeques and drinking. Incidents of intoxicated driving often escalate during key holidays and many people find themselves in need of a DUI attorney.

Most people don’t realize that just a few drinks can seriously hinder their driving abilities by affecting their ability to react in a dangerous situation. Police spend a great deal of time trying to keep intoxicated drivers off of the roads and an arrest for this charge requires a strong defense which must be developed by a skilled DUI lawyer.

Anyone, who wants to prevent a DUI conviction, which can result in a jail sentence or suspended license and at the very least heavy penalties and probation, are urged to hire a DUI attorney to begin working on their case immediately.
