Dog the Bounty Hunter Awaits Mexican Federal Court Decision

Star of A&E’s reality series “Dog the Bounty Hunter”, Duane “Dog” Chapman, will soon find out if Mexican officials will allow him his freedom or order his extradition. Dog, along with his son and another associate, were arrested September 14 for “deprivation of liberty” in relation to their capture of Andrew Luster in Puerto Vallarta.

Chapman caught up with the convicted rapist in 2003 after Luster jumped bond during his trail for drugging and raping three women.

According to Mexican law bounty hunting is illegal. Chapman is facing up to four years in prison if convicted. He is currently free on $300,000 bail.

The 53-year-old Hawaiian citizen awaits the outcome of next weeks closed hearings in Guadalajara. His attorney, William Boller, will attempt to have Mexican officials drop the charges pending against his client. Chapman will not attend the hearing.

Speaking about the upcoming hearing, Dog was quoted as saying “It's been the most nervous week by far in many years.”

After Dog brought Andrew Luster back to the States the Max Factor heir was sentenced to 124 years in prison.
