Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Eric Wright Busted for Felony DUI

Yet another NFL player has been busted for DUI. This time it was Eric Wright, cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who was arrested late Monday night after causing an accident.

The incident happened in downtown Los Angeles at around 12:20 a.m.  Wright who was driving a Mercedes sports car rear-ended a Silverado. The man driving the Silverado complained of pain but refused treatment, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Wright told officers that he was visiting a friend in Hollywood where he had a few drinks. He refused to take a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer. He was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. It is a felony charge because it involved and accident with injury.

While refusing to blow can prevent a conviction if the accused hires an acclaimed DUI attorney, it still entails penalties which can entail an automatic suspension of driver’s license and fines.

Wright has been in trouble with the law before. He was accused of rape when he was a student at USC, but the charges were dropped because of insufficient evidence.

Wright is one of a few NFL players with DUI arrests this off season.
