New York, NY- The media has been churning out a number of stories about the details of Katie Holmes’ divorce from Tom Cruise, but the two have been pretty silent about the details. In order to do some damage control Holmes’ divorce attorney has stated that the rumors of an emergency child custody hearing are untrue and Holmes wishes to keep the upcoming dissolution proceedings private.
“The reports about an emergent filing last Friday are incorrect. Other than her action for divorce, the only pending application filed by his Holmes remains her request for an anonymous caption,” Jonathan Wolfe, Holmes’ attorney said in a statement.
That means that Holmes is not seeking an immediate resolution for the child custody and support issues and that the divorce and custody proceedings will be done behind closed doors with a private judge.
A source close to divorce proceedings, who wanted to remain anonymous, told the Los Angeles Times that Holmes is not planning to fight over money, but custody over Suri is an issue. The source also said that Scientology plays a large role in Holmes’ decision to leave Cruise, which explains why Holmes hired , Jonathan Wolfe, a divorce lawyer that specializes in “complex matrimonial issues.”
Another source told US Weekly that Holmes’ wants to get her career back on track, which has been controlled by Cruise, who refused to allow her to take roles with “sexually compromising scenes, largely because the Scientology folks objected.”
Child custody is major area of contention for TomKat as well as many other non-celebrity couples. If custody is an issue in any divorce, it is beneficial for the parties to hire a divorce attorney to help them come up with an agreement that is in the best interest of their child or children.
