Carithers Flowers’ Helping Hands Program Donates $1,800 to Atlanta’s Hope Lodge to Help Cancer Patients and Their Families

Local Flower Business Designed Program as Way to Continuously Give Back to the Atlanta Community Year-Round

Carithers Flowers, a second generation, family-owned Atlanta Florist, announced that it has donated $1,800 to Atlanta’s Hope Lodge through the flower shop’s Helping Hands Program, which was designed as a way to continuously give back to the community all year long. With each flower arrangement ordered, a customer can make a $2.00 donation to one of Carithers Flowers’ participating organizations. This can be done in-person, by phone, or as part of the online order form, which includes a "Helping Hands" pull down menu selection.

The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge is part of the Emory Hospital located in Decatur, Georgia. Similar to the Ronald McDonald House, Hope Lodge helps cancer patients and their families by providing a comfortable place to stay during treatment. There are 52 guest suites with private baths, 8 common kitchen areas, a living room, computer work stations, library, courtyard garden, laundry rooms, transportation to treatment and cancer support programs.

In addition to the Hope Lodge, other enrolled organizations that customers can donate to include WellStar Foundation & Hospice, United Way, Ryan Lee Holland Cancer Foundation, Hightower Middle School, Good Mews Animal Foundation, Dreamweavers of Georgia, Kids’ Chance of Georgia and High Meadows School and Camp.

Charles Carithers, Owner of Carithers Flowers, said, “Since Carithers Flowers began, we have always found a way to give back to our local community because we feel so much a part of what happens here in the Atlanta area and are committed to helping other community members and community businesses succeed. We are so thrilled that so many of our customers feel the same way and have donated to all the great organizations. It feels so good to hand this donation to the Hope Lodge because we know the funds will go to such good use for both patients and their families.”
