Russian Navy Continues Search for Missing Cargo Ship

The search for the missing cargo ship Arctic Sea and its 15-member Russian crew continues into its second week on Thursday as five Russian warships and other vessels scour the waters of the Atlantic in hopes of finding the cargo ship.

There has been no sighting of the Arctic Sea since July 30 as it passed through the Bay of Biscay off the coast of France. Authorities are now concentrating on an earlier report from the crew in which they said ten armed men boarded the cargo ship as they sailed through the Baltic Sea on July 24.

According to reports the cargo ship had been sailing from Finland with timber and was scheduled to dock in the Algerian port of Bejaia on August 4 but the vessel never arrived.

Now the search for the cargo ship and its crew has intensified but Russian navy officials have said they have no concrete data on the location of the vessel.
