Patrick Elias, Brian Campbell, Daniel Cleary and Jarome Iginla lead their teams to wins in NHL action from Friday night.
Pittsburgh (11-9-4) took a one goal lead just over a minute into the first period but the New Jersey Devils (13-9-2) answered with the tying goal two minutes later and went on to win 5-2. Travis Zajac scored a goal and had an assist for the Devils while Patrik Elias added a goal and two assists for the Devils. Evgeni Malkin had a goal and an assist for the Penguins.
Daniel Briere scored the deciding goal in the shootout as the Buffalo Sabres (20-3-2) finished off their series sweep against the NY Rangers (13-9-4) 4-3. Brian Campbell had a goal and an assist and Maxim Afinogenov added a pair of assists in the Sabres win. Martin Straka had a goal and ywo assists for the Rangers. The Sabres won despite being out shot 39-19.
Daniel Cleary scored two goals and Mikael Samuelsson added two assists as the Detroit Red Wings (14-6-4) shut out the Minnesota Wild (13-7-4) 3-0. Dominik Hasek stopped all 20 shots he faced in goal and Nicklas Lidstrom had a goal and an assist for the Red Wings.
The Chicago Blackhawks (9-12-2) jumped to a 3-0 lead and held on to beat the St. Louis Blues (7-15-3) 5-2. Jeff Hamilton, Tuomo Ruutu, and Tony Salmelainen gave the Blackhawks their 3-0 lead and Mikael Holmqvist and Martin Lapointe added empty netters in the win. Doug Weight had a pair of assists in the St. Louis loss.
The Calgary Flames (12-10-2) fell behind 1-0 but got third period goals from Jarome Iginla and Chuck Kobasew to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets (6-16-2) 2-1. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced to preserve the win for Calgary. Ron Hainsey scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets.
