Former Secretary Hits Chicago Fraternal Order of Police with a Sexual Harassment Suit

The Chicago Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 has been hit with sexual harassment suit by a former secretary who alleges an unnamed attorney for the union sexually harassed her.

The employee, Marie Marrero hired a sexual harassment attorney and filed a federal suit against the FOP. Her attorney, David Lee said, “The sexual harassment included comments about her body some of which are very graphic, invitations to view pornography, a request for a topless photo to be put on a cell phone, a request to go to a friend’s birthday party basically naked and flash the friend.”

Marrero was fired last year while on maternity leave. Her attorney alleges that she was fired for retaliation.

The FOP and accused lawyer deny the allegations stating Marrero filed the suit because she was angry about being fired.

Lee said that Marrero’s former boss sued her in a state court over the harassment allegations so she filed a counter suit in federal court.

Marrero is seeking to have her job reinstated and lost wages. Experienced sexual harassment lawyers make it possible for the people, who are subjected to a hostile work environment, to not only end their abuse by also get compensation for emotional distress and any lost income.

Employees have an obligation to make certain their workers are not abused or discriminated against. If they fail in this duty, a sexual harassment attorney can hold them accountable for their lack of action and make certain they take steps to prevent this misconduct in the future.
