Food Network Chef Cat Cora Facing DUI charges

Celebrity Chef, Cat Cora, is facing DUI charges following a June arrest for intoxicated driving in Santa Barbara, according to todayshow.com.

Police said that Cora, 45, who is known for her roles on “Iron Chef America” and “Around the World in 80 Plates,” was arrested on June 17th following a minor traffic accident.

At 6:15 p.m. Cora was leaving a local tavern after an argument with long-time partner Jennifer Cora when she rear-ended a BMW with her Chevy Tahoe. Cora was only traveling at a low speed at the time of the accident, so there were no injuries. But the BMW driver told police that she believed the Cora was intoxicated.

Cora told police that she had three beers at the Tavern. Two breathalyzer tests revealed that her blood alcohol level was between .020 and .19, over twice California’s legal limit of .08. A blood test taken later showed her BAC at .19.

Police placed her under arrest and took her to a Sobering Center in Santa Barbara, a place where non-combative drivers are taken to sober up before they are released. This is her first citation for DUI.

Even first time DUI offenders need to have an effective defense. With the assistance of a DUI attorney, it is possible that those with a first offense will be able to have their charges reduced.

The majority of states impose tough penalties on the people who are convicted of DUI. In order to avoid a tough sentence and having a permanent record, a DUI lawyer will first work to stop a conviction by gathering evidence and employing a strong defense strategy.

It is crucial that anyone, who has been arrested for DUI, whether it is their first or a repeat offense to enlist the help of a DUI attorney to stop a conviction and prevent a jail term.
