The NFL preseason got off to a strong start on Thursday night with Tom Brady returning to action for the Patriots, the Ravens defense continuing to look dominant, Pittsburgh looking ready for another Super Bowl run and the Cowboys getting hammered in the post Terrell Owens era.
With Thursday gone Friday brings new action and the NFL has four games on the slate with and there will be plenty of eyes watching what happens in New York as the Jets host the St. Louis Rams. Mark Sanchez will begin his Jets career with plenty of pressure and he’ll look to calm the nerves of NY fans early. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
There should be plenty of interests when the Indianapolis Colts host the Minnesota Vikings following a crazy offseason. Minnesota spent a good deal of time trying to bring Brett Favre into the mix but after he said he was staying retired the team quickly said they were ready to go with Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson behind center. As for the Colts, Peyton Manning is once again in charge of the offense and appears determined to earn another trip to the Super Bowl. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
The New Orleans Saints had one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL last year with Drew Brees at quarterback but they know they’ll need to work on the defensive side of the ball and will look to their game against the Cincinnati Bengals to see where they stand. Carson Palmer and Ocho Cinco will be heading up the offense for the Bengals and this seems to be the year all is supposed to click for the Cincy squad. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
San Francisco is heading in the right direction with Mike Singletary as head coach but they still have plenty of problems and the fact their number one draft pick Michael Crabtree remains out of camp is a clear indication the 49ers could be in for another long year. They’ll be hosting the Denver Broncos who could be in for a long year as well after trading Jay Cutler in the offseason and could have some difficulty moving the ball. Kickoff is set for 10:00 p.m. ET.
