Jennifer Lopez: I’m Leaving American Idol

Jennifer Lopez is officially leaving American Idol. A day after saying she was still deciding whether to leave the show or stay for another season, Lopez has confirmed she will not return to the judge’s table.

"I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that you do, and you have to pay attention to that, too. I could keep doing Idol for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. I feel like we had an amazing run,” Lopez said Friday morning in a phone interview with Idol host Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show.

"No matter what you guys need over there, I'm always going to be here," the singer added. "I feel there's that tie there. I just can't be there every day like I was for the last two years.”

"I'm sad as the host of the show and I'm sad as a friend of yours, but I understand you've got to do what's best for your family,” Seacrest said.

Lopez’s announcement comes one day after Steven Tyler confirmed he is leaving American Idol. The rocker said he wants to focus on his band, Aerosmith, and the release of their new album in early November.

"After some long ... hard ... thoughts … I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band,” Tyler said Thursday afternoon.

"The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass," he added. "Idol was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it. ... Now it's time to bring rock back."
