Traffic Cameras in New Jersey Capture Horrific Accident Emphasizing the Dangers of Running Red Lights

A traffic camera placed at busy intersection in Roselle caught what looks like a horrific accident, igniting the debate on whether cities should use more of these cameras to catch reckless drivers.

The video shows a car running a red light and then being stuck by an oncoming vehicle. The impact caused the vehicle to flip over several times, knocking over a light pole and finally coming to rest in the opposite lane. Fortunately, the driver only sustained minor injuries.

It was later revealed that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

“I want people to realize what can happen when someone runs a red light,” said Roselle Park Police Chief Paul Morrison, “By showing this video, we hope that people will realize running red lights can have serious consequences.”

In Roselle Park these red-light cams have cut down repeat offenses. Ninety-four percent of the people who have been cited for running a light have not been repeat offenders.

Running red lights are one of the leading causes of personal injuries and traffic accidents.  These injuries can be catastrophic or deadly, making it necessary for the victims or their families to retain accident attorney to file a lawsuit against the negligent driver.

Even when an injured person has good health insurance or Medicare they may struggle to pay their medical costs associated with a traffic accident. These costs can end up in the tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands range and its unjust to expect a victim to pay these costs, which is why so many of these individuals hire accident attorneys to get them the compensation they deserve.

Those who suffer personal injuries because of another’s recklessness can count on an accident lawyer to be their advocate in court and make sure they get the money they so desperately need.
