The second episode of Big Brother 14 starts with Boogie approaching Dan about forming an alliance. Dan is open to the idea, but remains wary of the offer. They both feel they have good players that will make it to the end.
Meanwhile, Janelle and Britney are having a similar conversation. Janelle tells Britney they should get their players on board for an alliance because Boogie and Dan are working together. Britney wholeheartedly agrees. The girls go to their respective teams with the plan and everyone agrees to the alliance.
HOH Willie must make a decision about nominations. He doesn’t seem to know which direction he wants to go, so Janelle and Britney make some suggestions. They point out that Kara is Dan’s strongest player and Frank is Boogie’s strongest player. Willie doesn’t like the idea of Frank on the block because he and Frank already made a deal to not go after each other.
Julie Chen gathers the houseguests in the living room to reveal a new twist. She announces that the coaches will compete in a challenge each week. The winner of the challenge will receive the power to give safety to one of their players for the week. This week, the coaches will also pick one of their players to be a Have Not.
The coach’s competition is a horse derby in which two players chase after each other on a slippery course. The player to catch up to their opponent moves on to a second round that will determine the winner. Boogie and Britney face off first and Boogie wins. Dan throws the competition and allows Janelle to win because he doesn’t want to make his players targets this week. Boogie and Janelle face off in the final round. Boogie wins and saves Ian since he thinks Frank is safe this week.
The coach’s choices for Have Nots are: Ian, Danielle, Ashley and Shane. The Have Nots must eat slop, take cold showers, and sleep in the Have Not room,. The Have Not room is made up of four slanted metal beds with raised bumps on the top.
Boogie’s move to give Ian safety messes up Willie’s plans for nominations. He is forced to rethink which of Boogie’s players to nominate. At the nomination ceremony, Willie puts Frank and Kara on the block.
