Katy Perry and Russell Brand Finalize Their Divorce

Even though Russell Brand filed for divorce in February, he and Katy just finalized their divorce today.

The divorce announcement which came just 14 months after they tied the knot in a traditional Indian ceremony came as a surprise.

Brand filed for divorce last December stating irreconcilable differences. Many though their divorce would be contentious with their divorce attorneys battling over Perry’s considerable assets, but this didn’t happen.

But shortly after filing, Brand stated that he wasn’t interested in Perry’s money.

In Perry’s new movie “Part of Me” she revealed her struggle with trying to keep their marriage alive and frequently traveled on breaks from her world tour to be with Brand, though he didn’t make the same effort.

A source close to Brand said the main motivation behind his request for divorce was children; he wanted to start a family and Perry wanted to wait for her career to slow down before having children.

The source told US Weekly, “(Russell) feels there’s no point in being married if you don’t have children.”

Couples spilt over many reasons. Maybe they don’t get along as well as they did before walking down the aisle. Sometime their visions of the future don’t line up and they don’t feel like they can move forward with their relationship. Whatever their reason, it’s important to have a divorce lawyer lead them through the process and help them make decision about how to untangle their financial affairs.

Though Perry and Brand didn’t have children, a large majority of couples do and they need divorce attorneys to help resolve the issues of child custody and support during this trying time.
