Fire at Kuwaiti Wedding Leaves more than 40 Dead

A fire in a tent at a Kuwaiti wedding on Saturday evening has left at least 41 women and children dead and more than 60 injured.

As the fire inside the tent broke there was a stampede toward the only exit, leaving many guests trampled and quickly consumed by the flames. There has been word on what caused the fire but officials are looking at the possibility of faulty electrical wiring or coals used to burn incense.

All the victims were women and children as wedding celebrations in the conservative Gulf state separate the women and the men, with children attending the women’s party.
