Brad Stuart, Marty Turco, Patrick Fischer, and Dwayne Roloson lead their teams to wins in NHL action from Monday.
The Boston Bruins (13-10-2) jumped to a 4-1 lead but needed a late goal from Brad Stuart to beat the Montreal Canadiens (15-8-3) 6-5. Stuart gave the Bruins the lead in the third period but Sheldon Souray scored a power play goal for Montreal to tie it up. Stuart answered with his second goal of the period with less than two minutes remaining. Marc Savard had three assists for the Bruins.
Marty Turco stopped all 25 shots he faced and Mike Modano scored a power play goal in the first period to lift the Dallas Stars (18-9-0) past the San Jose Sharks (20-8-0) 1-0. The Stars wee out shot 25-13 but made were able to capitalize on their power play opportunity.
The Phoenix Coyotes (10-15-0) overcame a 2-0 deficit to score three unanswered goals and knock off the Nashville Predators (17-6-3) 3-2. Steve Sullivan opened the scoring for Nashville with a shorthanded goal. That was followed by Alexander Radulov’s goal in the second. Phoenix answered with goals from Oleg Saprykin, Yanic Perreault, and the game winner from Patrick Fischer. Phoenix managed to out shoot Nashville 42-21.
Dwayne Roloson stopped all 36 shots he faced and the Edmonton Oilers (14-10-2) shutout the Vancouver Canucks (13-14-1) 4-0. Shawn Horcoff scored Edmonton’s first goal on a power play in the first period. Petr Sykora had two assists in the win and Raffi Torres added a goal and an assist.
