John Smoltz, 42 has openly stated that he’s not ready to retire. He is more than open to join clubs as either a starter or reliever, according to a major-league source. The Red Soxs have until today to either trade or release John Smoltz. He has recently refused an option with the minor leagues.
The Cardinals, Marlins, and Dodgers are among the rumored teams that are interested in Smoltz if he becomes a free agent. As of right now it really seems as though he will be traded because he has cleared waivers. Things will also be complicated because of his contract with the Red Sox’s. We will have to stay tuned to see how things will play out.
