The Detroit Tigers made a move to bolster their offense on Monday, acquiring Aubrey Huff from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for right-handed minor league pitcher Brett Jacobson.
Detroit holds a 2 ½ game lead over the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central and have been looking to find ways to gain some separation. The addition of Huff should help as the Tigers offense currently ranks 11th in the AL in runs scored and team batting average.
Huff is hitting .253 with 13 home runs and 72 RBIs. He is expected to join the Tigers on Tuesday when they open a three-game series with the Seattle Mariners.
