The Washington Capitols (12-9-6) jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first period and went on to an easy 6-2 win over the Ottawa Senators (15-13-1). Chris Clark scored two goals for the Capitols while Alexander Ovechkin and Dainius Zubrus each handed out three assists. Matt Bradley had a goal and an assist as well for Washington. Jason Spezza scored his 14th goal of the year for the Senators.
Zach Parise scored the tying goal with just over five minutes remaining in the third period and Patrik Elias scored the game winner with 8 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the New Jersey Devils (15-9-2) past the Montreal Canadiens (15-8-4) 2-1. Radek Bonk gave Montreal their 1-0 lead four minutes into the first period before Parise evened it up in the third. Brian Rafalski and Scott Gomez assisted on both goals for the Devils.
The Dallas Stars (19-9-0) got goals from Sergei Zubov, Mike Ribeiro, and Philippe Boucher to defeat the Phoenix Coyotes (10-16-0) 3-0. Marty Turco recorded another shutout for the Stars, stopping all 23 shots he faced. All three goal scorers for the Stars recorded assists in the win.
Jussi Markkanen stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced and the Edmonton Oilers (15-10-2) got goals from Brad Winchester, Jason Smith, and Fernando Pisani to beat the Carolina Hurricanes (15-12-3) 3-1. The lone goal for the Hurricanes came from Craig Adams in the second period.
Teemu Selanne scored two goals and had an assist while Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped all 21 shots he faced in goal as the Anaheim Ducks (21-3-6) beat the Nashville Predators (17-7-3) 4-0. Chris Kunitz added a goal and three assists and Andy McDonald dished out two assists for the Ducks.
