Emily Maynard’s Bachelorette journey came to a happy end last night with the 26-year-old mom choosing Jef Holm over Arie Luyendyk. The decision seemed to come easy after Emily introduced Jef to her 6-year-old daughter Ricki on their final date. The next day, Emily told host Chris Harrison she would not have her last date with Arie because she is in love with Jef.
"As much as I love [Arie], I've fallen in love with someone a little more," Emily said as she fought back tears.
The North Carolina native then delivered the news to Arie. “I don't want you to think it's because of anything you did or didn't do. You are everything,” she said.
"I never thought I'd have to make a choice between you and anybody. I always thought it would be me and you. I'm sorry,” Emily added.
Arie was shocked. “I completely thought we had something,” he said. "Thank you for sparing me the embarrassment tomorrow. Good Luck."
Despite being confident in her decision to be with Jef, Emily admitted she had reservations about accepting a marriage proposal right away, but she ended up saying ‘yes’ when Jef popped the question with a Neil Lane ring.
“You really are everything that I've looked for for so long. I really do feel like you're my soul mate. You are the perfect person for me. You get me better than anybody ever has. I love you so, so much,” Emily told Jef.
"I want you to know that what I'm about to ask you aren't just empty words that in a few weeks or a few months or a few years, or even a few decades will be lost. What I'm about to ask you is a forever thing,” Jef said. "Emily, will you marry me?"
