A pickup truck carrying 23 passengers crashed into a tree Sunday evening along a rural Texas highway, killing 13 and injuring 11 others.
The accident took place in a town called Berclair, about 80 miles outside of San Antonio when the driver of a Ford 250 extended cab truck lost control and careened off Highway 59 and slammed into a tree.
There were a total of 23 people, adults and children, crammed into the truck cab and in the bed. Thirteen people died as a result, including two children.
The driver of the truck was thrown from the vehicle but survived the crash. Several others are in critical condition.
Texas Department of Public Safety Senior Trooper, Gerald Bryant said, “in my 38 years as an officer, this is one of the worst fatalities I have been to and I have never seen where we had that many people in one vehicle.”
Officials believe that many people in the truck were illegal immigrants.
In April, a minivan carrying immigrants crashed while it was being pursued by Border Patrol Agents. Seventeen people were injured.
Traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. When one or more drivers cause harm to others, an accident attorney will make certain they pay for the suffering inflicted the victims.
Accident lawyers have the knowledge and skills to get their clients a fair settlement so none of their medical costs will ever come out of their own pockets.
An personal injury victim will receive a beneficial settlement if they seek out an accident attorney immediately to either negotiate with an insurance company or begin developing a civil court case.
