Mel Gibson’s Step-Mom Insists He Pay for Her Divorce

Mel Gibson is once again locked into a divorce battle, but this time it isn’t his own, it’s his elderly father Hutton’s split. Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson, 78, says it’s Mel’s fault she is getting divorced and  insists the troubled actor  pay, according to TMZ.

In the papers filed yesterday in a Los Angeles court, Teddy’s divorce lawyer requested that Mel shell out the money for her divorce which could cost an estimated $65,000, stating she already spent $30,000. She is also asking she be allowed back in the marital home, alleging that Mel kicked her out.

According to court documents, Mel not only encouraged his father to divorce Teddy but he is also terrorizing her. Teddy said that Mel spit in her face, yelled at her, and threatened her. She filed a restraining order against the Mel in July.

Hutton, 93, filed for divorce in early June alleging elder abuse at the hands of Teddy. Hutton is seriously ill, and Mel alleges that Teddy was denying the medications his father needed to stay alive in an attempt to accelerate his death. Teddy however believes Hutton’s family is prolonging his suffering.

Mel Gibson is no stranger to the acrimonious divorce proceedings. The divorce attorneys for his first wife, Robyn, managed to obtain a $425 million settlement in December of 2011; half of Mel’s fortune. Then he was forced to pay his much younger lover, Oksana Grigorieva, $75,000 and was awarded joint custody of their daughter.

Regardless of your status, divorces are hard with many different issues to settle such as child custody and asset division. Divorce lawyers make settling these issues easier on their clients and fight to make certain their rights are respected in the final settlement.
