The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-7) used the long ball and the legs of Willie Parker to beat up the Cleveland Browns (4-9) 27-7.
Ben Roethlisberger hooked up with Nate Washington for a 49-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter to get the Steelers on the board 7-0. By halftime they had added a 23-yard field goal from Jeff Reed and led 10-0.
The Steelers controlled the time of possession throughout the game with a grinding running game and a defense that allowed the Browns to convert just 3-12 third down attempts. Pittsburgh held the ball a full seventeen minutes longer than Cleveland.
Roethlisberger drove the Steelers 91 yards for their second touchdown of the game, capped by a 2-yard touchdown on a quarterback keeper. While Ben played well and passed for 225 yard and a touchdown, the night belonged to running back Willie Parker.
Parker rushed for 223 yards breaking the Pittsburgh Steelers single game rushing record. He broke the record held by John "Frenchy" Fuqua's who rushed for 218 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in 1970. Parker fell 5 yards shy of the record just a few weeks ago when he rushed for 213 yards against the New Orleans Saints.
The Steelers running back added a touchdown to his night on a 3-yard run late in the third quarter.
Pittsburgh accumulated 528 yards of total offense on the night.
