A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-packed vehicle near a convoy of Western troops in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Tuesday, killing at least seven people and leaving more than 50 injured.
The bombing took place near a busy market as the foreign troops were passing.
NATO has said some of their troops were among the dead and the United Nations has indicated two of their employees were killed in the attack. The attack comes just days before Thursday’s scheduled presidential and provincial elections, an election the Taliban has vowed to disrupt by any means necessary.
Despite a rise in attacks President Hamid Karzai, widely expected to win re-election, has assured the public that the elections would be secure.
