Baseball’s biggest free agent, Barry Bonds, is back in a Giants uniform. After coming to a one-year agreement that will pay him at least $16 million, Bonds will be looking to eclipse Hank Aaron’s home run record as a member of the San Francisco Giants.
With 734 career home runs Bonds is just 22 shy of breaking Aaron’s record.
The 42-year-old Bonds will be returning to play his 15th straight year for San Francisco. His $16 million dollar deal could reach $20 million if he meets four performance bonuses.
Arguably the greatest hitter of all-time, Bonds has collected a record seven NL MVP Awards, eight Gold Glove Awards, has appeared in 13 All-Star games, collected a major league record 2,426 career walks, stolen 509 bases, established a career .608 slugging percentage and a .299 batting average. Bonds also holds the single-season home run record with 73 round-trippers in 2001.
