Two days after blasting the world record in the 100 meters Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt appears primed for a second gold at the World Championships in Berlin after easing into the semifinals of the 200 meters.
Already holding the 100 meter world record at 9.69 Bolt smoked the field on Sunday, crossing the line in 9.58 to set a new world record. Bolt is now in position to not only earn his second gold in Berlin but set two world records; he is the current world record holder in the 200 meters as well.
Tuesday’s heat resulted in a 20.41 second sprint for Bolt, 1.11 seconds off his record mark.
