The Da Vinci Code, Talladega Nights, Click, and Casino Royale help Sony Pictures Entertainment top $3 billion.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has become the third studio to top the $3 billion mark in movie history. The worldwide box-office success of The Da Vinci Code, with over $750 million, led the way to Sony’s historic achievement.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Click each surpassed the $150 million mark in worldwide ticket sales. Talladega Nights drove in $162 million while Click took home $228 million for Sony.

Casino Royale provided Sony with a boost at the end of the year. The new Bond flick has already netted over $300 million worldwide and is expected to cross the $500 million mark.

Sony has already broken their previous international record with $1.5 billion and they are on track to break their domestic record of $1.573 billion. The strength of Casino Royale along with new movie, The Holiday, should keep them on track.

In 2004 and in 2005 Warner Bros. eclipsed the $3 billion mark worldwide while Walt Disney Pictures hit the milestone in 2003.
