NHL Scores Dec.10; Rick Nash, Martin Havlat, and Kevin Weekes leads their teams to wins.
Rick Nash scored two goals in the first period and Dan Fritsche scored a pair in the second period as the Columbus Blue Jackets (10-16-2) pounded the Ottawa Senators (15-15-1) 6-2. Ron Hainsey added a goal and two assists for Columbus as and the Blue Jackets scored five power play goals. Christoph Schubert scored a goal and added an assist for the Senators.
The Chicago Blackhawks (11-12-5) scored two goals in the first period and added another two in the third to beat the Edmonton Oilers (16-11-2) 4-1. Chicago got a goal and an assist from Bryan Smolinski while Martin Havlat finished with the same line. Jarret Stoll scored the lone goal for the Oilers in the second period on a penalty shot. Edmonton accumulated 20 minutes of penalties on the night.
Kevin Weekes stopped 34 of the 35 shots he faced and Martin Straka had two assists as the New York Rangers (16-10-4) beat the Florida Panthers (10-16-6) 2-1. Michal Rozsival opened the scoring for the Rangers in the first period and Michael Nylander gave them a 2-0 lead in the third period. Rozsival assisted on the Nylander goal.
