Hollywood Legend Tony Martin Dies At 98

Hollywood has lost a legend – singer and actor Tony Martin passed away of natural causes last week at the age of 98. According to his longtime business manager Stan Schneider, Martin died at his Los Angeles home on Friday. He is survived by a stepson and two grandchildren.

Martin’s career spanned 8 decades and includes more than 30 film credits. He was most popular from the 30s through the 50s, appearing in musicals like “Ziegfeld Gil,” “Casbah,” “Pigskin Parade” and “Banjo on My Knee.” Martin was also known for hit singles like "Stranger in Paradise," "La Vie en Rose" and "Fools Rush In.” In later years he and second wife Cyd Charisse toured with their cabaret act.

Martin was married to musical actress Alice Faye from 1937 to 1940. He wed Charisse in 1948 and they remained married until her death in 2008. Martin and Charisse’s only child, son Tony Martin Jr., died last year at the age of 60.
