South Korea Halts Rocket Launch Minutes Before Scheduled Lift-off

South Korea suspended its scheduled space rocket launch just minutes before it was due to lift-off after an automatic abort system was triggered due to a problem with the fuel pressure system.

 

South Korea’s deputy minister of science and technology policy, Lee Sang-mok, said a valve on the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-1 (KSLV-1) failed to function properly due to weak pressure in one of the fuel tanks.

 

It could be several days before South Korea is able to launch the space rocket as the fuel now has to be extracted. The rocket launch, South Korea’s first, is intended to place a satellite into orbit
