Carrier Introduces Compact Performance™ Air Purifier

Based on the popular Infinity® air purifier platform with Captures & Kills™ technology introduced in 2006, the Performance air purifier is significantly smaller in size, with a narrow cabinet of only 7 ¼ inches (18 cm) wide and an air filter only 2 ½ inches (6.4 cm) wide.

Carrier, the world’s leader in high technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, introduces its new Performance™ series air purifier, in a more compact size. Nearly half the width of existing air purifiers and comparable in price to traditional electronic air cleaners on the market, the Performance series air purifier provides cleaner, healthier indoor air. (NYSE: UTX).Based on the popular Infinity® air purifier platform with Captures & Kills™ technology introduced in 2006, the Performance air purifier is significantly smaller in size, with a narrow cabinet of only 7 ¼ inches (18 cm) wide and an air filter only 2 ½ inches (6.4 cm) wide.

“According to the National Home Builders Association, there is a growing trend toward building homes with less square footage[1],” said John Gibbons, director of residential product marketing, Carrier. “As a result, Carrier is developing smaller heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) products to fit into tighter spaces. The more compact size of the Performance air purifier makes it an ideal healthy air solution for homes that may have the HVAC system in a closet or attic.”

The Performance air purifier may be compact, but its performance is mighty with a MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) of 13. It effectively removes bacteria, pollen, animal dander and other pollutants as small as 0.3 microns – that's 5,000 times smaller than the head of a pin. This high air filtration efficiency rating is combined with a patented germicidal technology that inactivates 96 percent of captured airborne bacteria, viruses and mold to significantly improve the quality of air in a home. The Performance air purifier works on influenza and common cold viruses, reducing the risk of disease in a home.

“In 2006, Carrier set a new industry standard in air filtration efficiency and germicidal technology with the introduction of the Infinity® air purifier,” said Kent Kuffner, indoor air quality product manager, Carrier. “Now, we have applied these state-of-the-art technologies to the Performance air purifier, offering a compact unit at a lower price point.”

The Performance air purifier is also easy to maintain with a disposable, long-life filter. Dealers will appreciate the installation flexibility of this multi-positional air purifier, with five sizes to fit any application, and a dual-voltage power supply, including electrical connections in the back of the unit. A status and troubleshooting light on the front of the unit complemented by the front access door makes diagnostics, filter changes, and service faster and easier.

“Carrier wanted to provide consumers and dealers with an air purifier that is more compact, but still offers high air filtration performance and the easy maintenance that Carrier is known for,” added Kuffner. “The Performance air purifier is a great indoor air quality solution that meets the demands of customers and contractors alike.”
