Grammy-winning music legend Stevie Wonder has filed for divorce from his wife of eleven years Kai Millard Morris, according to TMZ, who obtained the court documents.
The court documents stated the couple has been separated since 2009. Wonder listed irreconcilable differences as his reason for divorce. The actual divorce papers were signed on July 26th.
Kai Millard Morris, who is a fashion designer, was Wonder’s second wife.
Wonder, whose real name is Stevland Morris, is asking for joint custody of the couple’s two sons ages, 10 and 7. He has seven children with his first wife.

After numerous hits including “Superstition” and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours,” and 22 Grammy awards Stevie has notable wealth. Although Wonder made most of his money prior to his marriage to Kia, she will still be entitled to child and spousal support. According to the TMZ the court documents did not indicated what amount she would receive.
Statistically, second marriages end at a higher rate than first marriages. Overall the divorce rate in the U.S. usually hovers around the 50 percent and the leading reason for divorce is irreconcilable differences, though infidelity comes in at a close second.
Celebrity divorces are no different than any other though they generally have more wealth, assets and business ventures that must be entangled before the couple can sever their ties.
