1 Killed In Attack On NATO Supply Truck In Pakistan

An attack on a NATO supply truck traveling to Afghanistan through Pakistan’s tribal region on Monday left one person dead. According to government officials, three gunmen traveling in a car shot at the truck as it traveled in Jamrud, a town in the district of Khyber Agency. The driver was killed and three crew members were wounded.

Monday’s attack was the second on a NATO supply truck since Pakistan ended a 7 month blockade on supply routes in early July. The first attack happened on July 24 in Jamrud. Two people, including a driver, were killed and 3 others were wounded. Although the Taliban vowed to target NATO convoys if the supply routes were reopened, the group has not claimed responsibility for either attack.

Pakistan shutdown the supply routes on November 27, 2011 after 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed in a NATO airstrike. NATO called the attack a “tragic unintended” incident.
