A Somerset woman was arrested for suspicion of DUI early Saturday morning after she crashed into a parked police cruiser.
Massachusetts State Police said Laurie A. Lacle , 48 was driving along Route 195 West near Plymouth Ave when she hit a police cruiser with her Jeep Cherokee. Lacle left the scene and kept driving until troopers caught up with her.
Troopers placed Lacle under arrest after she failed numerous field sobriety tests. She has been charged with DUI, negligent operation, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to move over for an emergency vehicle and driving an uninspected vehicle.
The cruiser was on work detail overseeing a road crew. The trooper inside the vehicle did not have any injuries, but did complain of leg pains. He said he would seek medical attention on his own time. The cruiser had damage to the left front corner.
Lacle has some major legal challenges ahead of her. It is possible to either beat or reduce a DUI but it requires an effective DUI defense.
Some people who have been charged with a DUI don’t hire a DUI attorney to help them with their case. This may be because of the cost of legal representation or they chose not to fight the charges. But this can be a mistake since a DUI conviction will remain on their records for years, putting at risk their future job prospects.
