Miley Cyrus may be engaged, but the 19-year-old says she is no rush to plan a wedding. In the upcoming issue of Marie Claire magazine, Cyrus says she and fiancé Liam Hemsworth have agreed to have a “long engagement.”
"I don't really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we've made to each other," she tells Marie Claire. "Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with.”
Hemsworth, 22, popped the question with a 3.5-carat Neil Lane ring on May 31. Cyrus says the proposal and the ring was a “complete surprise.”
"We'd been kind of talking about getting engaged . . . I saw it (the ring) online at one point and thought it was really pretty,” she says. "I just love that it's old and has a story. And I'm happy because it doesn't look like anything else I wear."
