Famed daredevil Evel Knievel is suing Kanye West after the controversial rapper released a music video depicting himself as “Evel Kanyevel.” In the video West is decked out in Knievel regalia and attempts to jump a canyon on a rocket-powered motorcycle.
The 68-year-old Knievel filed a lawsuit claiming infringement on his trademark name and likeness.
Knievel believes the scenes in the video damage his reputation according to the lawsuit filed in a Tampa federal court on Monday.
On Tuesday Knievel said of his “protégé”, “That video that Kanye West put out is the most worthless piece of crap I've ever seen in my life, and he uses my image to catapult himself on the public.”
The canyon jump in the “Touch the Sky” music video is eerily similar to the actual jump attempted by Knievel in 1974 in which he failed to cross the Samke River Canyon in Idaho.
West enlisted the help of Pamela Anderson in the video as well. The former Playboy centerfold and ex-wife of rockers’ Tommy Lee and Kid Rock attempts to attract yet another musician.
Knievel wants distribution of the video halted.
