Kansas Dentist Accused of Sexual Harassment, Watching Porn during Procedures

Wichita, KS- Two former employees for a dental clinic in Wichita accuse one dentist of verbal sexual harassment and watching porn in the presence of sedated patient children.

The two women, Ruby Anderson and Kasmira Smith, filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and racial discrimination at Children’s Dentistry of Wichita. Three doctors at the practice were named in the suit.

The 20 page suit contains numerous allegations, but the most disturbing one accuses one of the doctors watching porno in the same room as a sedated child.

The lawsuit also alleges that doctors at the practice would give African-American and other minority children less anesthesia than other patients or would begin a procedure before the anesthesia had time to take effect. The lawsuit also alleges that Dr. Brown “would ridicule black and Hispanic patients more frequently than white patients.”

The women allege that one Dr. Brown, who still works at the practice, once pulled his scrub pants down and exposed himself to Anderson’s coworker in the receptionist area.

The two women left the job in 2011 because of the harassment and discrimination. The women did not file a formal complaint with the EEOC, because in a recorded conversation Dr. Brown threatened to fire Smith if she filed a complaint.

An attorney representing the three doctors vehemently denied the allegations and challenged the validity of the allegations because the women did not file a formal complaint. Filing a formal complaint is key to assuring a favorable judgment in harassment cases.

Sexual harassment attorneys for the women are seeking compensation, but did not state the amount they are seeking.
