Actress Willa Ford, who appeared in season three of “Dancing with the Stars” is divorcing her husband former hockey pro Mike Modano, just weeks shy of their wedding anniversary.
The couple was together fours year before they married on August 25th, 2007 in Athens, Texas, according to People.
In an exclusive joint statement, a rep for the couple told People, “It is with great sadness that after five years of marriage, Willa and Mike have decided to divorce. They remain friends and wish each other success and happiness.”
Ford, 32, recently landed a role on “Magic City” a Starz original series. She also appeared in “Dancing With the Stars” where she was eliminated in the fifth week.
Modano, 42, retired from the NHL last year and most recently played with the Detroit Red Wings.
The couple now joins the numerous celebrities that have recently divorced, including Stevie Wonder and Tom Cruise.
Celebrity divorces are not unlike other people’s divorces, but they often have more business interests that must be untangled and divided which can often lead to a protracted divorce battle. It takes the expertise of a divorce lawyer to end asset disputes and determine if one spouse should be awarded alimony.
And typical of many marriages, celebs also have to deal with the issue of child custody and support. When a couple cannot agree on primary custody they rely on legal experts to come up with terms that are in the best interest of the child or children.
