“For years people have said to me that they hate how empty and naked their house feels after the holidays when all the decorations come down. I realized that this “syndrome” is actually a blessing in disguise,” Hudson Kresnye claims. “Naked House Syndrome© lasts for just a brief period of time, but it provides us with the opportunity to see the rooms in our homes objectively and with fresh eyes.”
Hudson Kresnye has developed her “Home 2 Home” redesign class as an antidote to help combat the effects of this often experienced, yet rarely diagnosed, syndrome. She offers the class just once a year in January, when the syndrome nears epidemic levels. “This is the only class of its kind in the area and provides students with the unique opportunity to both learn and practice the art of interior redesign,” Hudson Kresnye explained.
In order for each student to get the most from the class, Hudson Kresnye limits enrollment to just seven students. “This is a great opportunity for a girl’s night out each week. We have fun while learning how to make our own homes really shine,” the home stylist said. “Participants receive a design workbook that takes them step-by-step to creating a beautiful home. Each week we visit one of the student’s homes and tackle her design challenges. Whether she needs help selecting paint colors, placing furniture or hanging accessories, we tackle it as a class and help her overcome her design dilemmas.”
Hudson Kresnye says in addition to creating beautiful homes, the class also empowers women and gives them confidence, “It’s amazing to see the transformation in students from week one until the class ends. They often come in feeling very incompetent because they’re ‘decoratively challenged,’” the designer explained. “But the class shows them that they’re not the only ones who have the decorating dilemmas, in fact, it’s quite common. Week after week, I guide them as we tackle their dilemmas and through the process they build decorating confidence. By the time the class ends, they feel empowered,” Hudson Kresnye said.
