Usain Bolt Sets 200M World Record in 2009 World Track and Field Championships

Usain Bolt set another world record as he won the 200 meters at the 2009 World Track and Field Championships in 19.19 seconds on Thursday.

Bolt, the Jamaican track star, trimmed .11 seconds off of his previous 200m world record, which he set in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Earlier in the competition, Bolt lowered his own world record in the 100-meter dash to 9.58 seconds, also by .11 seconds. In addition, like his earlier world record, he set his new world record exactly one year to the day from his Olympic record last year.

With these two records, Bolt maintains the title as the "World's Fastest Man".

Alonso Edward of Panama was second, a distant 0.62 seconds behind. Wallace Spearmon of the United States took the bronze.

Defending champion Tyson Gay was out with an injury.
