Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford Tops Mel Kiper's 2010 NFL Draft Big Board

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford is the No. 1 prospect in the 2010 NFL Draft on Mel Kiper’s Big Board on ESPN.com on Thursday.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner was considered a legitimate option to be taken No. 1 in 2009 based on mock drafts, but returned to college. Instead, Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford was selected first by the Detroit Pistons.

Bradford will have to fend off rival Texas quarterback Colt McCoy for the title of college football’s best quarterback, as well as for the NFL Draft. McCoy is ranked as the third-best quarterback (behind Bradford and Ole Miss’ Jevan Snead) and No. 11 overall.

Bradford joins teammates Gerald McCoy (No. 4) and Trent Williams (No. 9) as top 10 prospects. McCoy, a run-stopping defensive tackle, and Williams, a bruising offensive tackle, are also ranked as the top player at their respective positions. Fellow teammate Jermaine Gresham (No. 14) is listed as the top tight end in the 2010 draft.

Bradford and McCoy join Tennessee’s Eric Berry and Florida’s Carlos Dunlap as the top four prospects on the Big Board, all of which are underclassmen. Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh rounds out the top five prospects.

Berry and USC’s Taylor Mays (No. 6) are arguably the best safety duo to enter the draft in years. However, like all underclassmen entering the season, it is uncertain if Berry will declare for the NFL.
