On Saturday August 29, 2009 Monster Energy presents the American Cornhole Organization 3rd Annual World Cornhole Championship on Fountain Square in Cincinnati, Ohio. The invitation only Professional Championship Tournament brings in the Top16 CornyForty Pro Cornhole Players in the country to vie for a $7500.00 purse.
This year the ACO added suspense to the Tournament of 16 as it introduced Wild Card Friday Night, August 28th, at Turfway Park in Florence, Kentucky. More than 40 want-to-be Cornhole Stars will compete in the Monster Qualifier Cornhole Tournament for a coveted 17th spot in the Saturday Tournament. The winner of the Turfway Friday Night Tournament will play the 16th seed in the ACO World Cornhole Championship Tournament on Saturday for a shot at the $7,500.00 purse.
The ACO World Cornhole Championship Tournament is part of the Cincinnati Tailgate Bash 2009 sponsored by Kroger and benefiting the Easter Seals Work Resource Center. This is a family event with food and entertainment throughout the day. Stands will be in place to enjoy watching the Tournament for free, as the American Cornhole Organization Pros pitch for the purse.
