Texas Woman Accuses Female Supervisor of Harassment and Physical Assault

A Houston woman has filed a lawsuit against her former female supervisor alleging that she was sexually harassed and physically assaulted at work then fired for reporting the misconduct.

Jamenice Dabney-Davis worked for Gateway Frontline Services Inc. as a wheelchair escort and named the company in her suit.

In the court documents, Dabney-Davis alleges that her supervisor, Denise Moshay, subjected her to “sexual comments, illicit sexual invitations, and unwanted physical touching,” according to the Southwest Texas Record.  Dabney-Davis repeatedly resisted Moshay’s advances.

Dabney-Davis told Moshay that she was going to report the harassment if she did not stop. After that Moshay began acting hostile towards her and even went so far as to launch a physical attack against her.

According to Dabney-Davis, she was called into Moshay’s office as an affront for an assault. “When Dabney-Davis entered the office Iricka Spencer (a co-worker) physically attacked Davis including but not limited to spitting in Dabney-Davis’ face and slapping her,” the suit says, adding that Moshay coordinated, and witness the event without intervening.

Gateway fired Dabney-Davis shortly after the assault. Unfortunately, retaliation is common in sexual harassment cases. A large majority of harassers hold high positions.

Harassment at the hand of a supervisor is also alarmingly common. The targets of this workplace abuse are reluctant to report incidents for fear that they will lose their jobs. If this is the case, the victims must rely on sexual harassment lawyers to hold their company and harasser accountable for the hostile work environment.
